Call for papers The 9th Inter-Varietal Applied Corpus Studies (IVACS) International Biennial Conference 2018  University of Malta, Valletta  13th – 15th June 2018  Corpus Linguistics: languages, communities, mobility   The IVACS network aims to connect corpus researchers and postgraduates internationally. The 9th biennial conference builds on the success of the previous eight IVACS conferences held at the Universities of Limerick (2002, 2008), Belfast, (2004), Nottingham (2006), Edinburgh (2010), Leeds (2012), Newcastle (2014), and Bath Spa (2016).   The theme of the 9th international conference is Corpus Linguistics: languages, communities, mobility and it is intended to reflect a deeper awareness of the central role played by languages, and language varieties, in our increasingly fluid societies. 8th Biennial IVACS Conference – June 2016 – Call for Papers

The 8th Inter-Varietal Applied Corpus Studies (IVACS) International Conference 2016  Theme: Corpora and Context  Bath Spa University, UK June 16 – 17, 2016  Confirmed Keynote Speakers: Ivor Timmis, Leeds Beckett University Alison Sealey, Lancaster University Call for papers: The aim of the conference is to continue the success of the previous seven IVACS conferences held at the Universities of Limerick (2002, 2008), Belfast, (2004), and Nottingham (2006), Edinburgh (2010), Leeds (2012) and Newcastle (2014). The theme of the conference is corpora and context and is intended to draw our attention to the important role context plays in language variation. We are particularly interested in papers which draw on applied corpus research in the following areas, though these are in no way exclusive: Corpus Linguistics and Applied Linguistics (data-driven learning; learner corpora; testing; teacher education; non-native speakers of English/English as an International Language (EIL)/English as a Lingua Franca (ELF). Annual IVACS One-Day Symposium – Barcelona 2016

Now in its 16th year this year’s Annual IVACS One Day Symposium was be hosted by Institut de  Lingüística Aplicada (IULA), Institute of Applied Linguistics, Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) on Friday, January 22nd, 2016. This year’s main theme was Corpus, Discourse and Beyond. Presenters at the conference represented many of the IVACS network members, including Mary Immaculate College, Pompeu Fabra University, University of Cambridge, University of Nottingham, Leeds Beckett University, University of Leeds and University of Extremadura and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid in attendance.
