IVACS Research Centre Sixth Biennial International Conference hosted by Leeds Metropolitan University
IVACS Research Centre held its sixth biennial international conference at Leeds Metropolitan University, June 21st and 22nd, 2012. The two-day conference was organised by Dr Ivor Timmis, Leeds Metropolitan University. In all, over 55 papers were presented at the two-day event. In her opening address, Prof. Susan Price, Vice-Chancellor Leeds Metropolitan University, commented on the truly international dimension to the conference, with speakers from Ireland, the United Kingdom, Finland, Spain, Italy, Poland, Serbia, Lithuania, Switzerland, Belgium, Zimbabwe, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Eremites, the United States and Hong Kong.
Commenting on the conference, IVACS Co-ordinator, Dr Anne O’Keeffe said, “This was our sixth biennial IVACS conference and over the last 12 years the conference has gone from strength to strength. We are indebted to the work of Dr Ivor Timmis, our IVACS member at Leeds Metropolitan University, and his associates, for the wonderful work they have put into preparing this event.” She went on to say, “It was great to have a strong MIC presence at the conference. Staff members James Binchy, Brian Clancy and Margaret Healy all presented at the conference as well as PhD IVACS students Tania Fahey Palma and Justin McNamara”.
